Memo to John Kerry
For those who think I was "muy loco" for casting a write-in vote for New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman in the California Democratic presidential primary, I encourage you to take a look at his Thursday column.
THIS is why I voted for him. He gets it. He knows what is needed to win this global war on terror; he knows how we should go about making things right in Iraq; and he understands how the Bush administration has failed.
Memo to John Kerry: Make Tom Friedman your running mate. (In my opinion he'd be a better pick than John McCain.)
Fusion, Part 4
Hillary seems to agree with me on the Kerry/McCain idea.
And now, Zinni
Early on, before the war in Iraq, it was Brent Scowcroft (the first President Bush's National Security Adviser), former NATO commander Wesley Clark, and former CETCOM commander Norman Schwarzkopf (another of the first Bush crew). Then, over the last few months, we've heard from Richard Clarke. And a few weeks ago Bob Woodward blew the lid off the inept fools in the White House.
And now, Zinni.
"In the lead up to the Iraq war and its later conduct, I saw at a minimum, true dereliction, negligence and irresponsibility, at worse, lying, incompetence and corruption."Man! No wonder the President is at 41% (both in job approval and re-elect). Next up: The 30's.
...This is, in my view, the worst time to take (Iraq) on. And I don’t feel it needs to be done now...we felt that this situation was contained. Saddam was effectively contained. The no-fly, no-drive zones. The sanctions that were imposed on him.
...Now, at the same time, we had this war on terrorism. We were fighting al Qaeda. We were engaged in Afghanistan. We were looking at 'cells' in 60 countries. We were looking at threats that we were receiving information on and intelligence on. And I think most of the generals felt, let's deal with this one at a time. Let's deal with this threat from terrorism, from al Qaeda."
He is incompetent, he is a miserable failure, and it is time for him to go.
